Semester 2 Week 5 By Conor Brennan

Image
This week the group have been updating our project book and preparing our work for presentation. We also filmed two more interviews this week. Video edits for Instagram have continued and one has been uploaded.  It has been tough for us to get all of the work done on time, but it looks like we are on track with everything. On Tuesday morning, we traveled out CrossFit Ashbourne where we filmed Aisling, a CrossFit athlete who competes competitively. On Wednesday afternoon the team had a meeting and later filmed another video. The interview was conducted in a park with Kyle, a scuba diving fanatic.

Week 11 By Conor Brennan

This was the final week before the end of the first semester. In the labs, we made another prototype using stock footage. Being able to use stock footage was great because we could show what our project is aiming towards. This prototype was edited in a more professional standard because we all edited it together at the same time. The footage was more varied and included better text animations.  It also gave us the chance to receive more feedback from other students. Our group met with Mark and Katerine for a short meeting. We showed them our progress and discussed the projects next steps. Going forward we would like to set up social media accounts to help spread our message. Having social media accounts for Project Chronos will come in useful for finding people to possibly film with. Our goal over the break is to get into contact with more people and film. Project Book

Bringing our wits together we came up with the important content to use in our project book. The project book took a total of 5 days to brainstorm and develop. We used Adobe InDesign which is software for books, magazines and posters etc. Our content inside the book includes: Background was designed and made by Ian Maher, originally character descriptions wrote by James, Colour scheme directed by Conor and project book made and laid out by Robert Byrne. As a group we are happy about the book and are ready to present it confidently to our supervisors, along with our Prototype and Presentation.

Prototype - Saturday shooting

Image
Diary Entry We decided to meet up by 9.30am on Saturday 17th of November in order to meet Dan Wolfe and Nick Assaf for 11am in Moneystown, Co. Wicklow. Upon arrival to Blanchardstown, We sat in Ian's car deciding the shot's we wanted to take so that we weren't shooting without a plan. We arrived in Moneystown at 11am as scheduled although we did get a call letting us know that Dan would be arriving late. We promptly hopped out of the car as our legs were aching and we were eager for adventure. Taking our time to experience the Wicklow Mountains in all its glory, we explored through the forest and waited for Dan to arrive. We made a silent contract to each other and agreed to be professional and mature towards Dan and Nick as we wanted to let them know we were here on serious business. The only problem was James blurting out "Rob has match attacks in the back seat". Some would think this was our greatest downfall but to our surprise...

Week 8 By Conor Brennan

Week 8 - Group Project  This week was a busy one for the group. We arranged to meet with a professional mountain biker named Dan Wolfe and filmed all the footage we needed for our Prototype video. In the lab, we decided on exactly what we were going to film for the prototype.  Our second meeting this week took place in the canteen after our lecture. We discussed what time and where to meet on Saturday. We also put together a kit list and a storyboard. We borrowed a tripod and two rode mics from the college. We had the rest of the gear ourselves. We traveled up to the Wicklow mountains on Saturday morning and arrived at 10am. We spent the whole day filming and interviewing Dan and his friend. It was great to learn so much about mountain biking and to meet with a professional within the sport. Dan and his friend Nick were very welcoming and gave us fantastic high adrenaline footage that we plan to incorporate into both our Prototype and final piece. Blog post by Conor ...
